Dr Nzaumvila is a registered family physician with advanced training in family medicine and emergency medicine, holding a BSc, MD, MScMed (Emergency Medicine), MFamMed and a PhD. His work spans everyday family healthcare, the management of long-term conditions and the assessment and stabilisation of acute illness and injury.
Consultations are unhurried and collaborative. Patients are listened to, examined carefully, and given clear explanations of their condition and the options available to them — so that decisions about treatment are made together.
Primary healthcare for every stage of life — infants, children, adults and older patients — within one practice.
Treatment guided by current clinical evidence and recognised South African protocols, supported by modern technology.
A friendly, non-judgemental environment where personal health information is treated with strict confidentiality.
Substance dependence is a medical condition, and it is treated as one at this practice. Patients who use Nyaope (a low-grade heroin/opioid mixture) are assessed and managed clinically, without judgement and in full confidence.
Where clinically appropriate, opioid dependence is managed with methadone-assisted treatment. Methadone is a prescribed medicine that reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings, allowing a patient to stabilise and engage with the rest of their care. It is initiated and monitored by the doctor as part of an individual treatment plan.
Medication alone is only part of recovery. Treatment is combined with psychosocial support — counselling, mental health support and family involvement where the patient wishes it — through the practice's allied health team. Progress is reviewed regularly and plans are adjusted to the patient's circumstances.
Patients and their families are welcome to enquire about this service. Conversations are private, and there is no requirement to have made any decision before making contact.
